"That was Eventful" was born from a simple observation by long-time Edmonton event planner Chelsea Lawrie-Kanji: even the most stunning events can fall flat without moments that truly engage guests.

After years of designing polished, picture-perfect celebrations, Chelsea recognized what guests remember most: joyful, unexpected “wow” moments that invite them to pause, play, and connect. Whether it’s a surprise candy bar or a DIY flower station, it’s the immersive, interactive touches that keep people talking long after the event ends.

That was Eventful was created to deliver exactly that, high-impact, shareable experiences that make events unforgettable. From cheeky usherette service to multisensory bars and creative gifting lounges, our activations are designed to spark connection and leave lasting impressions.

We proudly partner with event planners, producers, and hosts to seamlessly integrate activations into the overall event vision, handling logistics, staffing, set-up and takedown, so everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. And for clients without a planner, we also offer full event coordination and support services to take the stress off your plate.
